You Tube Screening Room

I had the opportunity to visit the screening room for you tube, and I thought it was awesome! I watched the Mr. Stachie and thought it was interesting what people come up with these days. I enjoyed it but I don't think it is something I could watch every day, or see being made a movie series. It was about a man that always wanted to grow a stachie but his friends family and co-workers did not approve. well one day he decided to grow one and no one liked it. so he then went to the store to get a razor to shave it off when he met a beautiful blond lady. They went on dates and decided to take a road trip where there car broke down, and they were in the middle of nowhere. The first night they slept in the car, then when they woke up he noticed his girl was distant and put a 30 food barrier between them. Then the next morning he woke her up and to his surprise, well i guess you will have to watch the clip to find out.
I also watched Brink and thought the artistic work was cool but kind boring and drawn out at the same time. I do like the idea you tube came up with about giving movie pitches and really putting there selves out there to hear about the next great idea.

Warner Bros. VIP Studio Virtual Tour

I found the Warner Brothers virtual tour of there studio to be very interesting. First off, I love Ellen and found some of here video clips on the website to be very entertaining. I think it would be a blast to take one of these tours. There is so much to see such as stage 16 one of the tallest stages in the world, and where the movies Camelot, the perfect storm, and Batman. Also the have information about the famous Casablanca and Robin Hood. I think it is cool to see where movies are filmed and to see how they create there special effects in general. I wish there was a video tour that you could to see everything. I would definitely watch it!

Virtual Tour: The Weather Channel

I must say visiting The Weather Channel virtual tour was awesome. I would have to say I did like it better than the New York Times tour. It has furturistic music in the background, and it allows you to look at every angle of the studio and explaine what every part of the studio is used for. also every material that was used to make it came within a 500 mile radious of the studio, and whereever possible renewable resources such as bamboo and cork are used. There paint and adhesives they use are also environmentally friendly. So colorful, environmentally friendly, positive music, and modern technology. I think The Weather channel has covered it all.

New York Times Virtual Tour

I had the opportunity to go on a virtual tour of the New York Times building, where in 2000 a new building was built between 40th and 41st streets. the news paper portion and the newsroom make up the lower part of the building. An interesting feature to the building are the ceramic rods that are located on the four sides of the building, this creates a shade like atmosphere to keep the sunlight out as well as to create uniformity from the exterior. When you look on the inside of the building there are three main entrances into the lobby, which leads you to a mossy garden with trees and beyond that is the auditorium. there is a theme of red that is used to accent the building and keep it alive. I think it is an beautiful work area, that should keep the employees happy. I would really enjoy working on a building like that.

Recording studio tours

I had the opportunity to tour four recording studios online, and want to share my experience with all of them. As the music industry continues to increase it is important for studios to stand out from the competition to bring in new clients.
Blue Jay Studio welcomes you to their website with a real unpleasant song choice in my opinion. and the tour is 3D animated which I felt to be a little strange for a website. On the other hand the photos that they present of the studio, show that the studio is really classy and nice.
Soho Recording Studio has a boring website that really doesn't stand out to me, but they have been in business for sixteen years and they have several clients.
Radio ready studio, I felt had a great online tour and was probably my favorite tour of the four. The tour was short and sweet, and it had a great music selection to go with the video, which made it more enjoyable to watch. It showed the location, gave a flat rate for studio time, contact information, and they are open 7 days a week. Another thing that sets them apart is that they host events to promote their clients.
Pachyderm studio has an extremely professional website. The virtual tour shows the location, guesthouse, studio, equipment and clients. the website displays samples of their recordings, and there is recent news about their recordings.
Over I think if I had to choose one studio I would choose Pachyderm Studio because of the outdoor feeling and the positive comment from the client made it seem like a great place to do business.

State of the media

In the website The State of the news Media, you learn several statics and info about different types of media. Under special reports and economic attitudes, it talks about the Internet use, and statistics on users and that 55% of users use fuss subscription and 25% use the pay as you go plan. The future of the online news is the use of Internet on cell phones and an increase in wireless users. In the Newspaper summary section, the Sunday paper and the USA today are the most popular newspapers. As a fact, six out of every ten Americans get some sort of news off the Internet. In the future TV stations as well as magazines should keep constant ratings, or they may decrease a little with the increase in online users. The audio form of news is by far the most popular since most people listen to the radio on their way to work, or thought the day. Also ethnic media is becoming more popular especially since the election of our last president, which opens new doors for new competitors on the news field.

Ethical Decision Making

For this assignment we were asked to create an account with news university, and check out the website. A section of the websit that i focused on was the ethical decision making section. In this section they talk about accuracy and fairness, conflicts of interest, deception, diversity, online ethics, photojournalism, plagerism, and privacy. I learned alot of all of the following, but the one that really got me thinking was palgerism. when the question of if you hear something on the radio or read a quote from a newspaper, or from a television interview or transcript you find online do you need to refference it? When you start to look at it from that standpoint then plagerism is used quite frequently on an every day basis. I frequently will quote things that i hear on TV, so is that plagerism? To me i feel that it isnt but some may feel that way.

Internet Safety

I feel that when I comes to Internet safety it is important to educate youth, and warn them about the consequences of Internet miss use. There are some companies that have created some educational games that teach children about the proper Internet use. For example, AT&T has created a question/answer game that allows children to read a question and answer with what they feel would be right in an Internet situation. Such as, asking questions about giving out too much personal information, or what to do with unfamiliar emails. Questions like these are very beneficial, so that children are aware that they do not give too much information out, or get a virus on there computer. All of the games that I have seen will help individuals learn about what to do when a scam might occur.

Censoring Filthy Dirty Muck

The Internet has increased what the worlds knowledge, weather it be about obscene videos or individuals posting negative information on facebook. With the increase popularity of facebook and twitter, also comes the increase of users under the age of 18. I feel that facebooks initial intention was to be a social networking site, to make more connections in a shorter amount of time. The network to me was designed for college individuals to make connections into the real world when looking for a job. Now when I look at facebook you see what all of your friends are doing every second of there life, and who is in a relationship with who, and who is depressed or happy with life. Well I have three words for that " I Don't Care". As we look into the future I feel that a lot of this info that our children are throwing into public, needs to be discarded for there safety. Also for a moral purpose to remind them that most of what they post are immature acts.

Where do our childreen learn these imature acts? The answer is simple...MTV and other programs that show teenagers out of control, thus it gives children an image that it is cool to be out of control. Well its clearly not cool. I feel that we should have more cencorships, since clearly individuals can not choose what is morally right.

Green Screen Show

How does a green screen work? Well its simple, you take a green or blue screen and put it behind what you are filming. since blue and green are furthest away from skin color, the chroma key will only pick up those colors. you film what you need to then you can change the background to whatever u want. I have seen this method used several times in movies and in TV shows. One of my favorite shows to watch with the green screen is where individuals make fun of the celebrities. I think shows like this are hilarious, since they use creative techniques to describe what they are acting out. It also places a perfect setting, for the scene they are acting out.

Movie Review

The Great Train Robbery is a 1903 Silent Film by Edwin Porter. It is an action film about a Train Robbery.

The events that occur in this film consist of two men enter the train station and pistol whip one of the workers, then three of the robbers proceed to get on the train from the station. On the train they find a safe which has been locked so they blow the top off after shooting a man. then they move to the front of the train and shoot one of the conductors, and hold the other hostage. They get the train stopped and unhook the front of the train as get away transportation. Before they make their escape, they evacuate everyone off the train at gun point and take all of there money. As one man tries to escape they shoot him, then make there get away. They stop the train and run into the woods, where they have horses waiting for them. They then ride off into the woods back to there cabin.

I feel that the aspect they took with the silent film was a great idea, to me in a movie like this the music tells the story. As you watch it the music is more intense, during intense action shots.

Another thing i liked about the movie was the editing of the gunshot fires as well as the random colors that were added to the film. I felt that it gave the video some character, and brought some life to the film.

I feel that this was a great film overall that kept me interested all the way through. The acting was over exaggerated to help tell the story and i feel that it was very clear as to what they wanted to portray in the film. I would highly recommend this video to others who appreciate older films.

Blockbuster total acess vs. /redbox vs. / netflix

There are several ways to enjoy movies now in days, but the only ways I have used, are going to blockbuster and renting movies, or ordering them threw cable. I have looked into netflix, redbox and total access, and I feel that all of them are extremely beneficial. If I had one to choose then I would use netflix, because it is extremely popular with my friends and family. It is easy to use, inexpensive, and I wouldn't mind waiting for movies to come in the mail. There is not a redbox in my home town or a blockbuster so that would be my deciding factor.

Old Time Radio

We were asked to listen to old time radio shows and decide if that is something that we would still enjoy today. I feel that I would still enjoy listening to them, but I do prefer to watch a show on the TV. I like to be entertained by watching and listening to my entertainment. If I want to relax in the afternoon I can see  myself just listening to a radio show. I feel it is something that some people may still enjoy for years to come because it teaches you to use your imagination as you listen to the show.

iTunes vs Napster

iTunes or Napster? Personally I feel that it is your own choice on what one you choose. My personal choice would be iTunes, since that is the one i have the most experience with. I do own an ipod and can assure that I have not spent 10,000 to fill it up. That is a crazy assumption from Napster. I have a huge collection of music at home in which i downloaded to my ipod. iTunes also offers music threw the ipad and iphone, which are also great products. Now, Napster has some added features that may be more suited to many individuals, like new songs added instantly, as well as home audio and theater options. To me if you get an ipod port that is the same thing. I still feel that iTunes is the better choice for myself.

The end of paper

Is it the end of paper? I feel that with today's society now is, "going green". I think that there are a lot of individuals now going toward a green environment, such as using more Internet and computer technology. Also, another reason people may be looking for other options than paper may be the fact that printer ink is so expensive. With today's economy i feel it would be a better investment to use the Internet then to buy paper copies every day, and it is better for the environment.

I think that it is also interesting that scientist's are creating thin films to watch and receive news on. A modern form of this is the kindle and nook book, they allow you to read books without the paper copy. They are also trying to create glasses as a single piece that allow you to watch videos and read information. It is crazy to hear about the technology that is at the grasp of society, and what we can create for the future.

Banning Books

Schools all across the country are banning books, thinking that they are harmful to childreen. I feel that this is rediculos, there is no reason that dictionarys and other books should be banned for such little reasons. In california the dictionary was banned for the face that they thought the word oral sex was not age approperate. Sylvester and the magic pebble, is a childreens book that was banned in Illinois, because they thought that it potrayed cops as being pigs. Even more outragious was the childreens book "Brown bear brown bear what do you see?", was banned due to the auther having the same name as a terrist, even thought they are not the same person.
I feel that these bans are out of control, as we have a right to freedom of speech, and the freedom to write and read whatever we want. I feel that if you ban all of the books that show mild violence, sexism, as well as inoproperate language then childreen will be sheltered. When I say sheltered I mean that there are certain things childreen do need to know so they understand right from wrong, and know what to say and what not to say. As a child I read all of these books and I feel that I have turrned out just normal and if not even more educated than most on life, due to understanding some of these controversies.

Poor Richard

In the With and Wisdom from poor richards almanack, by Benjimin Franklin there were several verses that i found interesting. The one in which really stood out to me was.... Content makes poor men rich; Discontent makes rich men poor. This statement I true in my eyes, stating that if you are poor but yet content with your life, you are more likely to be happy which most individuals see as rich. On the other hand you can be the richest man in the world and have all your toys, but if you are not contient with your life, then you may feel poor.

Social Interaction

Does the Internet Isolate social interaction or does it Foster more social interaction? This is a question that might sound easy, but to me the real answer depends on individual personalities. Since I am an extremely social person I use the Internet to as a networking tool to get to know people, from there I use my social skills learned from school activities, leadership and team building, as well as family interactions. I feel that most individuals are isolated from the Internet as it is easier to send an email than to meet with someone face to face, that you know nothing about. With today's society, the Internet has made it so much easier and convenient to contact someone at any time of the day with e-mail as well as social networking sites such as facebook and myspace.

For Some individuals, Internet interaction as a means as a social crutch, as some of my friends can carry on a conversation over the Internet, where they are comfortable, but when it comes face to face they may be intimidated by certain situations such as interviews, or even first dates, or meeting someone for the first time. With that being said, yes I do feel that the Internet is isolating individual social skill.

CBS Thought

After watching a CBS convergence video I realize how much media has changed in the past five to twenty years. Things have changed so much its hard to think of typing papers on a type writter or listening music on a record player, or even haveing only a few channels on TV.
I think it is extremely important for a reporter to have a love of story telling, the love of clear vivid language, as well as the respect for history. It seems that now in days media is getting out of control with the out of control obsessions with celebrties and news stories that are not necessary, thus I feel that it is important to understand the history and respect for reporting, and making sure that there is adaquite information used in the stories. Vivid language is also important to increase the communication abilities between individuals. Of coarse the love of telling a story is important because it gives more meaning to the stories.

Media Junkies

Have you ever taken a Internet Addiction Test? Reciently, I have and I couldent believe from the questions that were asked, how addicted individuals can get. My personal score was in the 20 - 49 point range, which means that I am an average on-line user, and that I may surf the Web a bit too long at times, but I have control over my usage. The only reason I use the Internet is for school, to check my e-mail, and for facebook to keep up with my friends. Occcasionally I will surf the web to learn more about certain subjects that I am curious about.
In terms of other forms of technology to communicate I use, my cell phone alot to call and text, since it is a necessary means of communication for my line of work. Another form of technology I use is TV, when I come home from work I watch it while I eat dinner, so only a couple of hours out of the day as recreation time. Other than that, I really do not use a whole lot of technology to communicate or to keep myself occupied, since my work is extremely physical and overwhelming.
